Part of Gibraltar corporate challenge 2008
Congratulations to our 41 intrepid trekkers from 6 companies in Gibraltar who took part in the Gibraltar Corporate Challenge 2008, a gruelling four day trek through the heart of Morocco’s Rif Mountains.

Over 4 days the group followed ancient Berber pathways making their way through the stunning landscape of the Talessemtane National Park all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.
Undeterred by the weather and a nasty bug the teams trekked in high spirits motivating each other with smiles, laughter and sweets through the long, hot climbs and never-ending steep rocky descents passing on their way through remote rural hamlets, waved on by local villagers and children.
After a challenging, but fun packed four days, the intrepid teams finally arrived at the sea crossing the finish line, tired but rewarded by their achievements safe in the knowledge the had raised a phenomenal £80,000 raised for ActionAid’s work!
Thank you to all who took park in the challenge and to those who supported and sponsored their fundraising efforts!
ActionAid is an international development agency whose aim is to fight poverty worldwide. Formed in 1972, for over 30 years they have been growing and expanding to where they are today – helping over 13 million of the world’s poorest and most disadvantaged people in 50 countries worldwide. Their work is demanding and never stops and urgently needed funds are always a priority. To this end, a team of 8 Finsbury Trust staff members have agreed to join the ActionAid Gibraltar Corporate Challenge to Morocco in May of this year. The challenge entails each team member raising a minimum amount of £1,200 sponsorship fund and embarking on a four day teambuilding trek in the Rif Mountains of Northern Morocco which will begin in the beautiful old medina of Chefchaouen and finish at the Mediterranean coastal village of Stelhat. This four day trek will follow ancient Berber pathways and pass through a collection of small hamlets and simple villages with the teams either camping or lodging with the locals overnight. The challenge will take months of preparation, fundraising and training and the progress of the Finsbury Team can be monitored on our website www.finsburytrekkers.org .
