Two worlds
24 Jun 2008
Well - no money raised yet for the Marathon 2009 campaign and all training has had to stop whilst I recover from a chest infection.
I woke up this morning feeling like something our dog deposits on the grass sometimes.
I went to the docs and got some antibiotics. It is a tad frustrating, I have to be so careful with training as I am vulnererable to a chest infection if I push a trifle hard - which I did in training at 2% slope would you believe.
I work each night on upper body strength to battle with arthritis in my spine.
Sometimes when I have to be patient for days whilst I get over another chest infection and my back hurts when I cough and I start to feel sorry for myself. I start to think old and beaten.
And yet - aren't we lucky to be able to roll up to the docs and get treated for free if you happen to be over 60 as I am? My asthma is controlled with steroid sprays - also free.
I sleep in a warm bed and have plenty of food to eat unlike so many of the people in the world. I feel so sorry for what is happening in Zimbabwi. I was shocked to read what is happening in India to baby girls. It is horrific and I feel very sad about it.
I will get better and I will run in April 2009 and I will raise the money again.
