Rebecca's Selling Stuff Extravaganza
Part of First Hand Experience Nepal 2008
Congratulations to our fantastic team of 22 who have just returned from the stunning magical kingdom of Nepal where they worked alongside a local community building vital family homes.
From the moment they signed up and started raising their sponsorship right through to digging foundations, lifting bricks and mixing cement the team all worked really hard, with enthusiasm and dedication so thank you so much for that!
Throughout the week everyone got to know the villagers they were working with and despite the physical work and long days in the heat the days were full of smiles, laughter and fun as everyone pulled together to get the job done.
"The whole thing has been the most amazing experience of my life. I feel so privileged to have worked alongside such welcoming and lovely people." Grace Hall, Nepal 2008
At the end of the week the team had managed to get all 23 houses on the settlement started and the work they helped to achieve in five days would have normally taken the community 4-6 weeks to complete!
The team also raised over £78,000 for ActionAid's priority work, an amazing achievement! Their sponsorship will go towards funding ActionAid's priority work around the world to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of those living in poverty. Thank you so much to everyone who took part and to all your sponsors for making ths possible.
We are running the event again in 2009. If you would like to find out more just click on the link below to be sent a full brochure and registration form.

The idea behind this one is that by selling the things i no longer use, i am able to generate cash from sorces i wouldn't normally have access to and I can also promote what i'm doing and ActionAid while i'm at it. It has also proved a good way for those people who can't really afford to sponsor cash to show their support by donating their old stuff for me to sell.
My Message
I am collecting saleable goods from around my house, and also from all my family, friends and collegues and plan to flog it all in the name of ActionAid and reaching my minimum target!!
So far i've sold loads of DVD's on eBay (which my fiancé was pleased about as he's made room for more DVD's on the shelf!).
I've also done a carboot sale and sold many books, electrical items and various bits of brick-a-brack
Since doing the boot sale i've also had 2 big bags of old CD's to sell, so Ebay better watch out as I'm going to be at it again soon!!
Note: As I sell things, I'm sending the money in to ActionAid here online - doing it this way I am unable to add exact amounts as I can only submit whole pounds. Any small change (i.e. all the pences) I will of course still be sending in - I will just add it to my collection tin and it will all be counted in the end!
