Sponsor-A-Brick Lego House
Part of First Hand Experience Nepal 2008
Congratulations to our fantastic team of 22 who have just returned from the stunning magical kingdom of Nepal where they worked alongside a local community building vital family homes.
From the moment they signed up and started raising their sponsorship right through to digging foundations, lifting bricks and mixing cement the team all worked really hard, with enthusiasm and dedication so thank you so much for that!
Throughout the week everyone got to know the villagers they were working with and despite the physical work and long days in the heat the days were full of smiles, laughter and fun as everyone pulled together to get the job done.
"The whole thing has been the most amazing experience of my life. I feel so privileged to have worked alongside such welcoming and lovely people." Grace Hall, Nepal 2008
At the end of the week the team had managed to get all 23 houses on the settlement started and the work they helped to achieve in five days would have normally taken the community 4-6 weeks to complete!
The team also raised over £78,000 for ActionAid's priority work, an amazing achievement! Their sponsorship will go towards funding ActionAid's priority work around the world to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of those living in poverty. Thank you so much to everyone who took part and to all your sponsors for making ths possible.
We are running the event again in 2009. If you would like to find out more just click on the link below to be sent a full brochure and registration form.

Please Sponsor a brick and help raise money for ActionAid and my Nepal House Building Challenge! You buy the Lego bricks and ActionAid will buy the real ones! Your name is written on each brick you sponsor.
My Message
HELP BUILD MY NEPALESE HOUSES WITH ME!!!
This is a really good way to show your support, as it is a very visual way to collect sponsorship. Your name is written on every brick you sponsor! As more and more names get added to the Lego House, the more effective this will look. We may even get some pics of it in the local paper and on various web pages!
BRICK SPONSORSHIP : This must be in units of £1.
Each brick is just £1 to sponsor and you can 'buy' as many as you like.
For every brick you sponsor, your name can be written on that brick in perminant marker pen.
For example:
- for £1 you can select a brick to call your own
- for £5 you could 'buy' 5 bricks and have your name written in 5 different locations on the house
- for £10 you could make a real statement and have 10 connecting bricks!
- The options are endless and you can sponsor as many or as few bricks as you like (well there are approximately 350 bricks - so i guess it's not really endless... although i could make a 2nd house!)
THE CHOICE IS YOURS!!!
If sponsoring bricks online – when you get to the 'my message' box, simply let me know what name or wording you want on your brick/s and any requests you have for location / colour of bricks you want to sponsor.
I will keep this webpage updated with photos of the Lego House as more and more names are added. Please check out the Lego photo album to see how the house started off, and what it looks like as things progress.
The first pictures show the house with no names and part-built (as I ran out of roof bricks) but I have now got all the bricks i need and now just need to decorate the outside of the house with sponsorship names!

So far I would like to thank Dave (ebay user - naemunny), who I bought the Lego from. He has been very helpful in fulfilling my strange requests for only certain types of bricks in only the ActionAid colours! (All bricks are either Red, White or Pale Grey).
