This September I will be running the Great North Run in Newcastle to raise as much money as I can for a project set up in the name of friend of mine, Vicky Buchanan.

On the 17th October 2006 Vicky was killed by a lorry whilst cycling to work. In the face of this tragedy, and through the drive of many of her friends, family and her fiancé Adam Chataway the idea of Vicky's Water Project was born. The project aims to build the infrastructure to provide clean drinking water to several towns in Ethiopia.

If the project achieves its goal, and we can raise the amount of £226,000, the lives of nearly 20,000 people in and around Lera and Demala in Ethiopia, a country where Vicky spent some time working whilst preparing her dissertation, will be changed for the better.
