STM Fidecs and the Gibraltar Corporate Challenge Trek 2008

Part of Gibraltar corporate challenge 2008

Congratulations to our 41 intrepid trekkers from 6 companies in Gibraltar who took part in the Gibraltar Corporate Challenge 2008, a gruelling four day trek through the heart of Morocco’s Rif Mountains.

Over 4 days the group followed ancient Berber pathways making their way through the stunning landscape of the Talessemtane National Park all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.

Undeterred by the weather and a nasty bug the teams trekked in high spirits motivating each other with smiles, laughter and sweets through the long, hot climbs and never-ending steep rocky descents passing on their way through remote rural hamlets, waved on by local villagers and children.

After a challenging, but fun packed four days, the intrepid teams finally arrived at the sea crossing the finish line, tired but rewarded by their achievements safe in the knowledge the had raised a phenomenal £80,000 raised for ActionAid’s work!

Thank you to all who took park in the challenge and to those who supported and sponsored their fundraising efforts!

STM Fidecs and the Gibraltar Corporate Challenge Trek 2008

A challenging and grueling four-day trek across more than seventy kilometers of remote and demanding terrain deep in Morocco’s Rif Mountains with only mules to help share the load, sleeping “rough” in tents and Berber mountain Gites (not to mention the lack of bathroom facilities!) and generally suffering for the cause.

My Message

Eight of us from STM Fidecs are joining around forty other Gibraltar company workers to put our feet, legs and lungs through torture as we hike up and down remote mountains deep in the Riff of Northern Morocco, with nothing but mules for support, no home comforts (including no bathrooms !) and not a mobile or blackberry in sight!

Please make our suffering worthwhile and support this tremendous cause by sponsoring us to make it to the end of this challenging four day trek.  Anything from large corporate sponsorships to small personal donations.  Whatever you can give, it will all go to helping children in poverty and so has just got to be worthwhile.

And even though we've now made our minimum target, please keep giving.

Thank you so much.

The STM Fidecs Trek Team
