Hello everyone! I am running the Great South Run in Portsmouth for Action Aid. It's 10 miles long!!! Please help to support the worlds poorest countries by sponsoring me in the big event on the 26th October. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am a 40 year old engineer from Hampshire, slowly expanding around the waist.

So I thought I would drag my lithe svelte 12 stone frame out for a run and raise some money for a very worthy cause at the same time. There are two problems with this idea:

1. I currently have a 16 and a half stone (and increasing) figure.
2. I have hated running, practically from that very first cross country run I did at primary school.

Apart from these minor issues this should be a doddle! So for 2008, the plan is to enter the Great South Run as part of the Action Aid team. Not only that, I am also thinkng about a couple of other 'warm up' runs before October. What happens now? I suppose I had better start walking while I wait for my Application pack.

I like going out running but generally run without much of an aim. I already sponsor a child through Action Aid but want to do more to help Action Aid help the poorest people in the world. So i decided to sign up for the Great South run to raise lots of money for Action Aid and to challenge myself.
