About me
My name's Gav Topley. I've worked in a range of careers from being a Senior Secure Practitioner at a Secure Childrens Home, to a Senior team leader for a Charity fundraising Organisation. This is how I found out about Actionaid!
ActionAid are an incredible charity and undertake awesome work around the world empowering people to challenge the status quo and recognise and achieve their rights. This, combined with their amazing youth project, (2009 will be my second year volunteering for the Bollocks to Poverty Campaign @ Reading Festival) and fantastic and supportive office team make them an ace charity to support both from the perspective of making a real difference, and also for the sheer joy of working with such an incredible bunch!
This year along with my friend Adam Dunn, we cycled 1060 odd miles from Lands End to John O Groats in our boxers with no access to cash, raising lots of awareness and £1347 along the way.
I now wanted to do something more hands on.. and went to help refurbish a street children's shelter in Delhi this Autumn... (check out the link to the vid on my fundraising page) and this has spurred me on to do more fund raising to help swell Actionaid's coffers and help them continue with their amazing work!
I have press-ganged cajoled and recruited ten or so of my favorite people and we are off skydiving! Check out my fundraising page 'plummet' by clicking the link to the right for more info or search 'BTP Skydive' to check out the other kids involved in this. I'm pretty sure its another thing none of us will forget in a hurry :D
