Give your voice to someone hungry for justice.
854 million people go hungry every day. Hunger is man made, it's caused by governments and corporations. We're working in 25 countries helping people affected by hunger to come together, get organised and demand their right to food from those in power.
What will a few minutes chat pay for?
Your money will mean ActionAid can support people like Ronke to speak out about how we can achieve a HungerFREE planet. Ronke is a 23 year old student and activist from Nigeria, who got involved with ActionAid's campaign because she wanted to see an end to hunger in her country.
As part of a group of young volunteers, she received training from ActionAid on the right to food, the role governments and corporations have in causing hunger, how to lobby politicians, and be a media spokesperson. Last year she went to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, met the Nigerian representative, and urged her to make sure the UN promise to halve world hunger by 2015 is kept.
After the meeting Ronke said 'I feel inspired knowing that in my own little way, I have been able to add value. It makes me realise that when you are forceful about an issue, you will eventually be heard! I hope all governments and the UN sit up and work hard to reduce hunger. I also see Nigeria passing a Right to Food Bill. I see a positive turn around and a reduction in hunger-related deaths.'
ActionAid are enabling hundreds of young people around the world to speak out about hunger, like Ronke. Your talk time will mean even more activists will be trained, mobilised and listened to.
