First Day on site

26 Nov 2007

Early start this morning breakfast at 6:30 and off to the site after a safety briefing.  The main road through Poi Pet makes the potholes at home look positively smooth.  Never again will I complain about the state of our roads!

Once we reached the site we were greeted by lots of children and there was much amusement at us, several photos later we set about the serious business for which we are here.  I've had a go at rendering the walls not very successfully and as there were too many of us on that I moved to mixing the render and keeping the others supplied with the wet stuff.  Later I was filling baskets with earth which we then used as infill for the floors.  Having had too much sun I then moved into the shade and started breaking up the clods of earth for the floor infill.

Later on in the day I tried my hand quite successfully at bricklaying.  We are all very tired but feeling much more human after a shower.  Guess it will be an early night tonight and more of the same tomorrow.  At least we can see what we have achieved today.  It's been amazing!

Hi Mum,

Glad it is going well out there, sounds like you are doing allsorts and enjoying doing it.

Just a quick thing, if you can access your email can you send you 3 digit security number and start date for the card you gave to the garage. They phoned today and said it is finished they just need those details to put the card though. Thanks, love you loads, Paul
