I would like to organise a fundraising event at my local school and wondered whether anyone had an simple fundraising idea they would be willing to share that wouldn't involved too much preparation from the teachers but would raise a good amount for ActionAid?

Well, ActionAid's national fundraising days could be good. You get a whole pack to get you started and can be as simple or as ambitious as the teacher likes. One is 24-hour coffee break and the other is Lick Child Poverty (LCP) Day. Both have educational classroom materials that go with them, and both have a great bumper pack of goodies to help people fundraise, coffee and chocolate for 24 hour coffee break, and great LCP lollipops.

hi I was going to suggest you approaching them and asking to conduct maybe a twenty minute lesson with one of the classes - you could use the resources that actionaid provide and you can ask the parents to send in donations when you send the letter's out. I wanted to have a tea and coffee break at my kids school which was turned down for insurance purposes but the head teacher was very keen to get me in one of the classrooms with the kids to raise awareness! - I dont know if thats any good for you but i thought i would put the idea forward!
