How do I register to use MyActionAid?

Anyone can register to use MyActionAid, all you need is a valid email address.Help image - register

Just click on the ‘Join’ tab and follow these three easy steps:

1. Fill in a registration form with your name, MyActionAid name and email address. Your user name will form part of your unique url (web address) so make it memorable.

2. Check your email inbox for an official email from myactionaid@actionaid.org.uk (you may have to check your Spam folders if your settings are high).

3. Follow the link in the email to activate your account and then create your password.

That’s it!


How do I sponsor my friends?

Making a donation couldn’t be easier, and because we use HSBC all your transactions are guaranteed to be safe and secure.Help image - donate

Just click on the ‘Members’ tab and search for your friend via name or email address.

Once you’ve found your friend’s personal profile, click on their event under ‘My donation pages’ (displayed on the right-hand side of your screen). If they have more than one event listed the most recent will be the first one.

Now you can read more about the activity, and follow the ‘Click here to donate’ button.

This will then take you to a form where you can add your details including amount you'd like to sponsor and a message of encouragement. After submitting the page you'll be directed to the HSBC secure payments site where you'll be asked for your credit/debit card details.



What currencies does the site accept?

MyActionAid accepts the following currencies:

How do I set up my personal profile page?

Once registered (see ‘How do I register’), log in with your MyActionAid name and password.Help image - profile

Then click on ‘Set your biography here’ (it’ll be in the centre of your screen).

You’ll then be given options to:

1. Add some words about yourself;

2. Add a photo;

3. Add your blog or website address;

4. And select whether you want to appear in ‘public’ searches on our website.

Lastly, if you’re planning to use your personal profile page to raise money for ActionAid then don’t forget to complete the 'Personal Information' section of the form.


Why isn’t my personal profile page displaying on the website?

Help new 1All personal profile pages are set to ‘status: private’ as a default setting. This means that only you can view them.

If you want your personal profile page to be visible to others, you’ll need to make it ‘public’.

You can do this by clicking on ‘My Profile’ (top right-hand corner of your screen), and then clicking on ‘status: private’ and selecting the ‘public’ option.

Providing that your published items are approved by the MyActionAid team (all items are reviewed), your page will now be live.


How do I add an activity/ sponsorship page?

Help new 2Once registered (see ‘How do I register’), log in with your MyActionAid name and password.

Then click on ‘My Profile’ (top right-hand corner of your screen).

Now click on the ‘add new content’ option (right-hand side of your screen).

You’ll then be given options to add:

1. A title for your page;

2. A message encouraging others to donate;

3. A link to ‘Related events’ (ActionAid events that you’re involved with);

4. Related Images;

5. Your fundraising target;

And loads more…


How do I add a photo album?

Help new 3Once registered (see ‘How do I register’), log in with your MyActionAid name and password.

Then click on ‘My Profile’ (top right-hand corner of your screen).

Now click on the ‘add new content’ option (right-hand side of your screen) and choose ‘photo album’.

After adding your photo album’s title and description, save your settings.

Now you can add photos individually by clicking on the ‘Add item’ option (right-hand side of your screen) and clicking ‘Photo’.

Just follow the instructions, and add a name and description to each of your photos.

Once uploaded, you can edit and arrange your photo album through the ‘Actions’ and ‘Display’ options.


How do I add a blog?

Help new 4Once registered (see ‘How do I register’), log in with your MyActionAid name and password.

Then click on ‘My Profile’ (top right-hand corner of your screen).

Now click on the ‘add new content’ option (right-hand side of your screen) and choose ‘blog entry’.

Here you can:

1. Add a title;

2. Add a brief introductory description;

3. And add your blog entry in full (you can cut and paste it from Word if you like).

Once you’re done, hit save and your blog will be posted automatically.


How do I use the forum?

Forums are a great way of sharing ideas and holding discussions.

Just click on the ‘Forum’ tab and select from a variety of themes and issues (like ‘Fundraising ideas’, or the area for ‘Students’).

Now you can join an existing discussion by clicking on the ‘Title’, and then replying to a previous comment.

Alternatively, start a new discussion (or ‘thread’) by clicking the ‘Add a thread’ option.

How do I become a featured supporter?

MyActionAid is responsible for selecting the featured supporters for our homepage.

If you would like your activity to be featured email your request to myactionaid@actionaid.org

The activity will need to feature a related image (see 'How do I add activity') to be considered.
