I'll be cycling more than 500km through Malawi and Mozambique, following a route that circles the southern half of Lake Malawi. I'll have the opportunity to meet local people and see why Malawi is called the 'warm heart of Africa' at the same time as raising valuable funds for ActionAid.
My Message
Those of you that know me will know that I enjoy the wind in my beard as I'm speeding through the congestion zone on my bike (paying due attention to traffic signals). As soon as I heard that some friends were taking part in a 500km ride through Malawi and Mozambique in support of ActionAid I knew it would be the most exciting and challenging way to raise much needed funds for the projects that ActionAid is running.
I think you should set yourself a challenge every year, and this year I'll be turning 34 during the course of the 500km trip. Even if I do enough training and I'm fit enough to cover the distance, I'm sure the temperature and blazing sun will pose an even greater challenge to my fair ginger skin!
I have to raise a huge amount of money and really appreciate all the support you can offer.
