Round the World 12- Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

13 Apr 2008

I had already written half a blog, but that's gone.  This is really more of a status update.  I'm still in sydney, wheras Nigel is not.  Due to... let's say "artistic differences" we've decided to call it quits after four months.  Hell, if you spend every moment of every day for four months with a person, things are bound to snap.  The cycling continues, just on different routes.  Nigel will stick to the plan, but since we're goin our seperate ways i will come up with somthing new.  Maybe New Zealand in the next few weeks, who knows.  For now, I've got some serious thinking and catching up to do; after all there's no point seeing the whole world if you don't get a chance to experience any of it!  I've been in the same place for almost a week now, and I'm quite enjoying it.

I've seen friends from school, for the first time since december 11th and our flying visit on paris; we spent about 14 hours there, and a good 10 of them were sleeping.  I've been to the cinema! Normal stuff.  I've also been sick on my own shoes, but hey, you can't win em' all.

xx

The split

Gee! What a disappointment you split up, does this mean you are still going to continue with your ride around the world or have you given up, I assume it’s too late to work differences out with Nigel? I gather you stayed in Sydney and flew to Paris with your friends, swilling beer like little adolescents till you all got silly drunk and sick. Are you back in Sydney?
I beg to differ with your last log…… It is quite clear from your earlier entries that you were seeing and experiencing our world with its different cultures/attitudes even if for a brief moment, you experienced what it feels like to be a minority in a foreign culture/country. You formulated whether to agree or disagree with cultural attitudes/predetermined stereotypes from firsthand experience… it’s all part of the learning ….its’ fun)
Why would you give up that opportunity? You will be missing much by stopping…
You should not divert, step up to the plate and continue the quest…. ride around the world

no partner in crime

oh well...i guess it is difficult being with someone, in those kinds of conditions, 24-7...
hope it all works itself out, and if you do decide to go it alone, then good on you luv!! keep pedalling!!
