Beginning December 9th, I am leaving with a friend attempting to cycle around the world. The trip will cover approximately 18,000 miles, pass through over 30 countries and take about 280 days. We are hoping to finish in New York in mid-August and in doing so successfully, raise as much money as possible for Action Aid.
My Message
We are travelling from London to New York, in a little over nine months. We begin by passing through Europe via Paris, Milan, Bucharest and Istanbul. From istanbul we are flying over Iraq and Iran to Karachi in Pakistan. This is due both to the security situation there and to our time restraints, (we are both going to University in September/August.) From Karachi we head into India and up into the Himalayas, via Tibet, Kunming and eventually Hong Kong. This perhaps is the most challenging part of the trip.
From Hong Kong we will fly to Adelaide and will proceed to cycle around the East coast of Australia to Brisbane. Here we will catch a plane across the Pacific to Santiago via Auckland. This marks the last (and longest) leg of our journey, from Santiago to New York with no planes to help us out.
Depending on how we are fairing timewise, our route from Mexico to New York may take us up the west coast and across, or through the Southern states in a more direct manner.
*To anyone who has donated or pledged to donate offline, don't worry, we are still counting your money! These donations have been added to Nige's page, which can be seen here http://www.myactionaid.org.uk/munozn/round-the-world-cycle-ride *
