We did it!

01 Feb 2010

Rosie will do a far better blog than me but she has hobbled into school, muscles screaming. The girls didn't realise how tough a mile on a spacehopper would be, especially when they blew them up and realised they were meant for 5 year olds. Anyway they set off attired in fancy dress, totally unsuitable for the freezing but sunny weather conditions. After falling off several times they got the hang of it and fortified with encouragement from friends, chocolate brownies, and being laughed at  by small children they made it. However I don't think they will be going into the Guiness Book of Records, but it might catch on as a new type of exercise class.

Well done to the "bouncers", Maia, Rosie, Imogen and Martha, all their friends who supported them, especially Simmy (the Marshal), with her high viz jacket.

Thanks to all the generous walkers out on the Common-we raised £124 just from passersby, as well as £25 collected beforehand, and the sponsorship page is growing(£60 so far).

I'd specially like to mention Julia, out for a walk while we were setting up, who came back a bit later with a flask of hot tea for us, and stayed with us to the end. She knew so much about the historical and political situation of Haiti, so we got a history lesson as well!
