Midsummer Challenge
Part of UK midsummer challenge 2008
Congratulations to our 33 intrepid walkers who took part in our first ever Midsummer Challenge - trekking from sunrise to sunset in the beautiful hills of the Lake District. Everyone worked really hard and there was a great team spirit and lots of support, smiles and laughs throughout (even with a 3am start!). The group are looking on target to raise a £10,000 in sponsorship to fund our priority work around the world helping to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of millions of the people living in poverty.
A big thank you to everyone who took part and to everyone who sponsored and supported the team too!

Join ActionAid's first UK Midsummer Challenge in 2008 and spend the longest day of the year walking from sunrise to sunset through England’s largest national park – the Lake District. What better way to explore the best of England’s national heritage and enjoy our country's most spectacular scenery.
My Message
After returning from the Footsteps of the Maasai Trek last October I knew I couldn't sit on my backside and not do anything else...so I signed up for some more walking.
On 21st June I took part in ActionAid's inaugural Midsummer Challenege - tackling the best hills and valleys the lake district has to offer on one days trekking - approximately 21 miles from dawn till dusk.
Although the figure to raise may be small, the value to ActionAid's work is vast.
Many, many thanks for your continued support
Regards
Andrew
