My Message
Hi there,A colleague of mine was involved in Mission Malawi 2 in 2006 and he was a huge influence on my decision to take part in such a worthwhile challenge. Malawi is known as the 'Warm Heart of Africa. It is an incredible country, with beautiful people, many of whom are living in incredibly difficult circumstances. Not least the fact that 1 in 7 people in Malawi is living with HIV/AIDS and someone dies every 9 minutes from AIDS related illness.
I will be heading out to Malawi in May 2010 with two of my work colleagues - Alex Taylor and Antoin Strachan. We will be joining a team of 20 cyclists, some like me will be Mission Malawi novices.
On this 15 day challenge we will be cycling over 500km (300 miles) through Malawi and Mozambique and will visit several ActionAid projects that we have helped to fund. The route follows a mixture of paved and dirt roads through the Malawi and Mozambique landscape which is both remote and rural.
Please give what you can, and we'll do our best to raise even more money for what is a really important issue.
Thank you,
Philip
